hello hello! i'm cat, and this is my (our) blog. i write a lot about motherhood and try to find the creative in our day to day lives. i also may share photo sessions as they come my way or a photos series i may be doing as a personal project. maybe a new recipe we're all loving at the moment. instagrams and dr. seuss quotes. this is also a space for me to just write. i've always been a lover of words. grab a cuppa brew and have a browse. cheers.

I actually love having a small apartment. Less to clean, in all honesty. And even then, I do a pretty crappy job of staying on top of it. I don’t love not having a yard, but we have a pretty sweet balcony that makes up for it. All in all, I enjoy our little abode. It’s minimalistic and light and open.

My biggest complaint right now–I just want my bed back. Back when I was pregnant with Theo I feared and over-thought about scheduling and naps and how was I ever going to get them on similar schedules so that I could have a break every once in awhile. Well now that blessing has turned into somewhat of a curse. Afternoon naps are great, throw Theo in his crib in their room, Ev in our bed in our room, and I usually have an hour or two. It’s bedtime that is super annoying. Both kidlets go to bed roughly at the same time, and I’ve tried putting them down together. Theo seems to think it’s a party and won’t stop yammering away at his sister while she tells him to “Be quiet Theodore James Watson!” At least she is listening when I’m correcting her brother, when it’s directed at her that’s a different story. She probably doesn’t know her own middle name. Anyhow, I haven’t beaten them into submission yet, so lately, we’ve been doing the whole co-sleeping thing that ignites wars between mommies. The attachment parents can go ahead and applaud and all you Baby Wise people can cast judgement.

I’m not from either camp all the way, but out of necessity we’ve made our bed (ha!) in this  particular category with the attachment gurus. Except it sucks. I try to snuggle her and she punches me. She sleeps perpendicular to the sides of the bed and occasionally talks in her sleep. She kicks and thrashes and has a thing against covers. Most nights I end up on the couch, which sits in front of our East facing window and thus the light of what feels like a thousand suns in the morning.

Love her, but I just want my bed back.

Don’t let this fool you. She looks small and dainty here but in a queen size bed she morphs into a mini moving monster. On another note, we had a fun and beautiful day at Kits Beach today watching a little volleyball and playing in the sand. Can’t beat it.
